Player’s move to Man United now ‘a matter of hours’ – Club ‘forced to sacrifice’ him ‘to balance accounts’

With the negotiations between Manchester United and Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane moving forward, we now get the latest updates from AS.

The outlet today writes that the La Liga giants are ‘forced to sacrifice’ the player, as they’re working on his sale ‘to balance their accounts’.

It’s said everything is ‘almost done’ and should be concluded for between €50m and €55m, with the transfer said to be ‘a matter of hours’ away.

The reason why things aren’t expected to take long is that Varane doesn’t want to first start training under Carlo Ancelotti and then have to start all over again with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

AS writes that until a few days ago, Varane’s entourage ‘kept the door open’ for a renewal, but Real Madrid really need the feel of a big sale, with the defender being the main asset they have for that.

So, Ancelotti never fought for him to stay, and the Frenchman ended up feeling pushed towards the exit door.

The Spanish side demanded €70m, while Manchester United are more thinking €45m plus five more in bonuses, so the deal should be done ‘in the coming days’ for around €50m.

It’s said the Red Devils are working on their ‘written offer’ right now, and we can therefore guess it will be on its way rather swiftly.
