Amapiano gets own Awards show

Amapiano musicians will be getting awarded pretty soon, as there’s an award show coming up.

An official statement surfaced on social media, explaining why the creation of South Africa Amapiano Music Awards is necessary.

The organizers aren’t revealed, but in the statement, it says that “The Governing body of the inaugural awards decided to come up with a ceremony that will specifically celebrate the genre.”

The awards show has 20 categories and each winner is to go home with R10k, while Song of the Year will take home a cash prize of R50k.

The statement says the announcement of nominees will be made on Monday, 19th of July on Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.
